For our Quantitative Risk Management team (QRM) within the Risk Department in Brussels, we are looking for a Head of Life Risk.

Your function

In your role as Head of Life Risk, you will lead the team responsible for the overall Life Valuation & Life Risk framework across Ageas Group. You are responsible for:

  • Leading the Life Valuation & Risk team (setting of targets, assigning roles & responsibilities, coaching and guiding the development of your team members);

  • Taking the role of Group Model Manager for the Group Life Valuation & Risk Models (developing, testing & documenting of methodology, ensuring model implementation, performing calculations by model runs at Group level, analysing model outcomes and ensuring model quality);

  • Participating in & contributing to regular & ad-hoc reporting at Group level (Solvency II, IFRS, MYB, stress tests, ...);

  • Harmonising local approaches through chairing of dedicated Technical Committees;

  • Providing input for Ageas governance bodies (ARC, ExCo, ManCo, Board) on Life Valuation & Risk topics in collaboration with the Group QRM Director;

  • Acting as primary subject matter expert for Life Valuation & Risk topics at Ageas Corporate Centre (General Account & Reinsurance) in collaboration with first line functions;

  • Acting as primary subject matter expert for the Ageas Actuarial Function.

  • Supporting any ad-hoc projects requiring Life Risk expertise;

  • Providing expert input for the Group Life Valuation & Risk policies and ensuring consistency between local policies and monitor local embedding.

Your profile

  • You have a higher education in a quantitative topic (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Commercial Engineering, Finance, Actuarial), at least 2y MSc level, PhD is a plus;

  • A professional accreditation (CFA, CRM or Actuarial) is a plus;

  • You have at least 6-10 years of experience in industry or relevant research capacity;

  • You are able to coach and lead a team;

  • You have strong organizational skills ;

  • You able to effectively and clearly communicate technical topics to both experts and non-experts;

  • You are able to work with a high level of abstraction and to execute complex tasks under pressure;

  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is preferred.
