Ageas reinsures at group level important parts of the risks underwritten by its insurance companies. The current volume of inward premiums exceeds EUR 1 Billion.  A team of dedicated experts is managing this capital-intensive activity. The scope and the level of activities is currently growing fast and we are looking for a Reinsurance Operations Officer. This job is positioned in Brussels, travel will occur occasionally.

Your function

The scope of responsibilities includes the following domains:

  • Technical Reinsurance activities

After training provided by Ageas the candidate will:

  • Perform recurrent reinsurance duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business, claims and financial flows.

  • Based on clear guidelines, calculate reinsurance premium, profit commission and other reinsurance financial items and assist in preparing the relevant documentation (billing statement and financial reports).

  • Assist in the maintenance of the control framework for all reinsurance activities.

  • Support the underwriting process of all inward and outward reinsurance contracts, ensuring appropriate information gathering and appropriate documentation, understand contract wordings.


  • Operations & IT

  • Optimize the use of IT-tools that support the reinsurance operations.

  • Assist in the implementation of the ongoing development of the Group reporting tools and participate in the management of such IT project.

  • Collaborate with the externally and internally (to Ageas Corporate Centre) outsourced departments linked to reinsurance: finance, actuarial support, asset management, compliance, internal and external audit, tax….


  • Accounting, Planning & Reporting

  • Ensure timely accounting & reporting and ensure reinsurance information is recorded accurately.

  • Support the periodic internal and external reporting on the business results.

  • Ensure that the collection of reinsurance recoveries is handled effectively and efficiently.

  • Support the statistical information gathering to support the steering of the reinsurance activities.

  • Support the budget and strategic planning activities for the reinsurance business.



Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor/Master degree.

  • You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in (or good understanding of) reinsurance or insurance environment. Notions of accounting and solvency II regulation are a plus.

  • You have a good working knowledge of MS Office and advanced excel skills, knowledge of Business Objects is a plus.

  • You have excellent administrational and organizational skills.

  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • You are accurate, numerate, concerned for quality and eager to learn.

  • You can handle tasks calmly and efficiently also when facing tight deadlines.

  • You are a team player, but you are able to work autonomously.

  • You are fluent in English.
