More Investing Responsibly

At Ageas, we believe that investing responsibly is essential to building a sustainable future. Our Responsible Investment Framework reflects our commitment to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into every investment decision we make.

Our Approach

Ageas’s responsible investment strategy is built on three pillars:

  • Exclusion: We avoid investing in companies and sectors that conflict with our values, including those involved in controversial weapons, arms, tobacco, gambling, thermal coal, and unconventional oil & gas. We also exclude companies that violate international norms such as the UN Global Compact and countries subject to international sanctions

  • ESG Integration: ESG factors are embedded into our investment analysis and decision-making processes. We assess risks and opportunities to ensure our investments contribute positively to society and the environment.

  • Engagement & Voting: We actively engage with companies and exercise our voting rights to promote sustainable business practices and foster long-term value creation.

More details can be found in Ageas’s Responsible Investment Framework.

Our commitment to climate action

Ageas is committed to achieving a net-zero investment portfolio by 2050. Our interim targets include (European consolidated entities, excluding Unit-Linked portfolios):

  • A 55% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity (scope 1 & 2) in our proprietary equities, corporate bonds and direct infrastructure portfolios by 2030 (base year: 2021).

  • Decarbonisation of our real estate portfolio in line with CRREM 1.5°C pathways.

In addition, we aim to invest a minimum of EUR 15 billion in assets that support the transition to a more sustainable world, with at least EUR 7.5 billion allocated specifically to climate-related projects by 2027. We are also committed to engaging, either directly or indirectly - through asset managers and/or   collective engagement initiatives - with 20 of the lowest-performing GHG emitters in our portfolio, in order to encourage their alignment with the European Commission’s net-zero objectives.
