Recognising that forewarned is forearmed, Etiqa has added new features to its mobile app Etiqa+ and website including flood alerts and a flood map tool to help Malaysians manage flood risks more effectively. These alerts and updates are part of Etiqa’s effort to provide protection and enhance customer safety during flood emergencies, going beyond traditional insurance and takaful services.

The flood map tool allows customers to check if their homes or business are in flood-prone areas helping them plan their insurance and make informed decisions about flood protection. Additionally, the public can also access the same feature from Etiqa’s website. Triggered flood alerts also provide customers with useful tips on how to protect themselves and avoid flood-prone areas.

The impact of recurring floods during monsoon season in particularly are reflected in the volume of insurance claims. Between 2020 and 2024, Etiqa processed more than RM 436 million in flood-related claims, with more than 30,000 policies affected by floods over that period. These figures underscore the severe impact that floods have on Malaysian communities and the importance of these types of applications to help support customers when it is needed most.
