"26/10/2009 - As the final act in a campaign designed to promote its hospitalisation insurance products, AG Insurance - market leader in the insurance sector in Belgium - has handed the non-profit association Cliniclowns a cheque for EUR 10,000. Cliniclowns was set up as a result of a private initiative and does not receive any structural subsidies, so any form of financial support is always more than welcome. And AG Insurance is one of the main players on the hospitalisation insurance market. Given the link between this type of insurance and the activities of Cliniclowns, in early 2009 AG Insurance decided to provide financial support for this non-profit association through a commercial action. Clients who took out a new AG Care Hospitalisation contract between 1 March and 31 May 2009 received a cheque for EUR 30. They could either keep it or pass it on to Cliniclowns. More than one client in four chose the second option. AG Insurance itself also provided support by giving Cliniclowns EUR 5 for each new contract. This action collected a total of EUR 10,000. AG Insurance CEO Antonio Cano officially handed the cheque to Cliniclowns on Monday, 26 October. On this occasion, he stressed the importance of an organisation like Cliniclowns :
"Even though hospitalisation insurance can play a role in easing the financial cares involved in medial care, having to stay in hospital is still a difficult experience psychologically. Particularly for children. So there can be no doubt that initiatives like Cliniclowns provide valuable support for children in hospital, helping to ensure them the best possible conditions from an emotional point of view. I am delighted to have been able to add our mite through this action. I would like in particular to thank many of our brokers and clients for their spontaneous response to our call to support Cliniclowns. They enabled us to collect a fine sum, thanks to which Cliniclowns will be able to put a smile back on the faces of hundreds of children in hospital. This proves that solidarity, humanity and a concern for the most vulnerable among us remain important values in the eyes of many Belgians, even in these turbulent times."""
