Ageas UK helps customers weather the storm thanks to work of new task force

Helping customers to take preventative measures to protect their homes in anticipation of big weather events is something that Ageas is taking very seriously. It was the driving force behind the establishment in 2023 of a Weather Taskforce made up of experts from within the business, brokers, and external weather experts to help us better anticipate and pinpoint these events with greater accuracy.

Ageas has been working closely with flood resilience campaigner Flood Mary and other organisations including Flood Re, Weathernet and Leakbot to learn from their expertise and innovate propositions for customers.

Forewarned is forearmed as customers welcome advice

The work coming out of the taskforce is designed to reduce the impact of these events on customers, potentially limiting the damage on the basis that forewarned is forearmed. So, providing advice on measures that can be taken in advance.

The knowledge Ageas has amassed through this work has been incorporated into a weather surge plan which was already successfully activated for instance in response to the impending arrival of Storm Ciaran in early 2023. An online weather hub was also launched to provide practical advice and education for customers in preparing their homes and keeping safe.

Recognising the vital role that brokers play in communicating with customers during these devastating times, Ageas played host to a group of brokers and industry experts to work through potential solutions and ideas to better help customers. The response from customers, particularly those more vulnerable, or those living in higher risks parts of the country, has been incredibly positive.
