In Europe, three times more accidents resulting in injuries happen during sporting exercises than in traffic accidents. Accidents at school also happen almost 2.5 times more often. Knowledge of first aid procedures is of crucial importance in those circumstances and that is exactly what the Red Cross in Flanders and insurance company AG Insurance want to focus on in the coming years.
Antonio Cano, CEO of AG Insurance: “As an insurer, prevention and safety are incorporated in our DNA. By cooperating with the Red Cross in Flanders, which plays a major role in first aid training, we would like to teach as many people as possible how to provide first aid and in this way contribute to saving lives. Our programme will not only offer young people better protection, it will also make them active and competent people with regard to preventative health care.”
Philippe Vandekerckhove, delegated director of the Red Cross in Flanders, says: “It is obvious that the Red Cross in Flanders is very happy with such a long term partner agreement. It is also perfectly in line with our vision that we should make more people self-reliant.”
